Welding/ Cutting on smaller gas powered equip

I would also remove it. If you cant then at least put a leather welding jacket over it.

hey thanks everyone on this, filling tank & covering are good ideas. too lazy to remove tank on the small honda engine.
project going smoothly (so far) put a spark deflector where i'm torch cutting as well. so....would a window fan on low blowing welding fumes away (not toward gas tank!!!) be a safe idea or increase hazard?

i know, sometimes it gets too academic a discussion on a small job like this, but the alternative is worse best regards
