Most people weld iron with nickel rod, for best results degrease, pre heat, weld then post heat and let it cool down slowly

You ask as if all tranny cases were created equal and having them bust is a common occurrence. Not that uncommon on furring built baby tractors using loaders (I have a broken Kubota myself) but you should be more specific in order to get better answers. I'm in the process of determining whether my housing is steel or iron,you might specify which yours is because it matters.
