I like to lurk this forum to see various projects so I thought I'd post my last ones. Inside work for the winter time. Never been a "welder" just a "sticker togetherer" but am inspired to improve my technique. Am at the point where some welds lay down beautifully but then on the next one I'm going WTF? Would like to start trying some TIG if I can save up a little. Anybody have opinions on the Everlast products for a hobbyist? They look appealing and I think Mark is able to get deals.

Project one is a welding table. Was going to make it 1/4" or 3/8" but the metal guy had some 1/2" that made my heart flutter. 48 x 48 built with 2 X 2 x 1/8 wall. It weighs over 450 lbs so I hit upon using HF trailer tongue jacks to raise it and move it. Front Legs are 2" shorter so I could make some levelers.

Project two is the ubiquitous press brake for the mighty HF 20 ton shop press. I was guessing at the geometry but it will bend over 90 degrees and am hoping that it will be better than heating things in the vice and beating them like a crazy monkey only to find after it cools that it didn't do exactly what I intended.

That's just terrible. My mailing address is.... Really, it looks like a good clean job with some genuine ingenuity built in. Now you make us want for more projects! Should my welder go on the fritz, I'll give Mark a try. Mine is a 3 way w/ DC TIG. I've barely had any use for the TIG for what I do. Maybe when I get more crafty in my older age.

Thanks! Here is one from two years ago. My bride loves Christmas and I was schleping ten (10) monster tubs weighing up to 40 pounds up and down the fold down ladder to the attic. I could do it for a number of years and apart from the umbilical hernia and wrenched back it dawned on me that it could be a safety issue with advancing years. I've had this for the last two Christmases and I smile every time I use it. Built from 1" 11 gauge, which is probably overbuilt but it was what was available, and a HF 400/800 lb. hoist which was just a little over a hundred bucks with a coupon. The rattling at the top is the cage engaging Teflon blocks to center it in the hole.

Id like to make one of these to lift a fully decorated xmas tree into attic ....ha ha. I could build an air tight, dust free room up there

Nice! That would work great in my pole barn.
