you must be confusing them with something else.....next time you're in a super market look for them. or you can buy them online.

We're going to try to get some morels to grow next season. The compost is preparing itself as we speak. We will be placing the morel spawn out in a few weeks.
Just to keep it on topic, we use our inline frostless faucet to keep the compost moist.

Mushrooms have always being confusing for me.

First your taught to keep your hands out of the dirt.
Second, don't play with crap or step in it.
Then, bad things happen in the dark.
And lastly, fungi aren't suppose to be good for you.

Then we try really hard to find them, grow them and eat them. Well certain ones anyway.

Interesting. :)

Do you have a pittles adapter?
If so pull pump drill out the fitting for the pull handle (don't damage threads)
If you are in a freezing area screw in a yard hydrant (now your pull handle) .

Non freezing area plumb up to top of well with spigot.

Replace well seal with a split gasket type sanitary well seal.

yes to the pitless. so i would just pull the pump out far enough to access the pitless....right? and then my handle would be the hydrant. it is a freezing area.

yes on the hydrant being handle and when off it will dribble back in to well.

It is not normal to have a check valve at the bottom of the well. Most submersible pumps in fact have a drain hole to allow all of the water in the down pipe to drain back into the well. This is done to reduce the load on the pump when it starts. If the pump has to start against the weight of the water and tank pressure it would probably stall or you would need a larger pump. Very much like trying to start your tractor in gear with PTO engaged or a back blade on the ground.

Huh? Every pump system I have worked on has either a foot valve (top of well pump) which is a checkvalve or has a checkvalve built into the pump (submersible). Without one, all the water in the tank/pipe would drain back every time the pump shut off.

Some people will also have a checkvalve somewhere in the line between tank and pump but it is pretty well redundant.

You are correct in that the pump does start against the weight and pressure of the water already in the pipe/tank system. That is the hardest wear on pumps and is why systems are optimized for max drawdown between starts (the precharge).
