Well since it seems the Beaver is indestructible, I'm considering a post hole digger to install some fencing. The Beaver is set for cat 0 3 point and I have the proper reverser installed with the larger shaft. With that in mind, any recommendations for a post hole digger? Will I need the adapters for converting 0 to 1?

My JD garden tractors are cat 0. I have never seen a cat 0 post hole digger. But google it, ya never know.

My MT372 is just a newer version of the S370, it is Cat 1. You may do yourself a favor in the long run to get the cat 1 arms and whatever else applies as cat 1 stuff is a lot easer and cheaper to find than cat 0.

There are some narrow posthole diggers, both new and used. If you can't find one, or get an exceptionally good deal on a normal Cat 1 digger, a custom built U-frame with Cat 0 pins that would fit your tractor would be straightforward to make, and very affordable.

I have a couple different augers. The bigger bits (10 inches or so, and bigger) start to put a significant load on the smaller tractors in terms of power in my soil.

When I run them, I constantly run the lift up and down. If not, sometimes the auger will catch on a rock, or a root, or some other fairly solid object, and screws itself down into the ground without cleaning out the dirt, and is not able to be pulled out by the lift alone. In the worst case scenario, a large pipe wrench can be used to "unscrew" the bit.

Ok thanks. I had seen a unit on the local Craig's for $75 with a 3" auger and figured it would be perfect for setting 1 1/4" fence posts for a dog run, but alas it's gone.
