I built myself a chisel of sorts awhile back with 9 shanks and paddle points that cuts about 9 foot wide. This morning I changed out all the points to a sharp very curved chisel spike. The paddle points on the thing did an OK job but it wasn't the best and it was hard to pull. So after I got all the points changed out I was excited to see how it did so I went at the turn rows around my cotton field. I set it down and took off. Man it pulled better. I usually pulled it mid low at about 4 mph but it felt like it didn't even have a load on it so I clicked up into high and it the tractor topped out. MAN!! this is great. So I looked back to see if I was going to fast and low and behold, my chisel was still sitting at the end of the turnrow about 70 yards back.:eek: I had forgotten to latch the quick hitch. :confused2::shocked:

Oh well,
I backed up and rehooked and all is well. Thought y'all would get a kick out of this.

Most importantly: Did anybody see you do this?
Did they have their cell phone camera out? How much did it cost you for them to delete the video?
We've all done things like that. I "have a friend" who drove a trailer 60 miles with just the trailer tongue sitting unlocked on my, I mean his, ball hitch.
I always think about things like that when I see chest thumpin "lock em up and throw away the key" types shout off about some 16 year old who does some boneheaded prank.

My uncle years ago thought all the neighbors he passed on the road were being especially friendly one day because they waved so valorously as they passed. But when he got to the end of his trip he found out why -- the rear gate/ramp on the horse trailer was down, and the latch lever had been ground quite a bit shorter by the pavement. Fortunately his trip wasn't longer or it would have been worn away and the frame of the ramp ground down too.

I had a grading biz for 20 yrs. Once, after a 12 hr day, I hooked up my triaxle trailer to my single axle dump. I was hauling an 8K lb bobcat with forks, grapple , bucket, & clearing rake. Pretty good load. About 35 miles later & after traveling down a busy toll road, I was on a back road getting close to home when I hit a good bump going about 45mph. Bam! Off comes the trailer. Thankfully I always welded some large safety chains on all my trailers & they held fine. Tore the wiring up (it was dark) so I had to patch it up on the side of the road. Luckily there was no traffic & no homes where I was at. I cringed thinking about blasting down the freeway at 70mph.-------- Whenever stupid sets in (rare) I just blame it on getting dropped on my head at birth ;)

I've dumped my SSQA pallet forks a couple times. Probably my bucket at least once too, but I don't remember offhand.

Planning a power activated SSQA lever, details in the customization forum if you are interested. Could probably do the same for my QH as well.

That reminds me of a story I heard a long time ago....it might even be true. Apparently this guy had just bought a brand new car and was making a trip up to northern Saskatchewan to do a bit of camping and fishing at a lake and he had a small tent trailer on behind. Same thing as you said, the people were waving and pointing at him and he thought they were in awe of his brand new Imperial...snazzy car eh? It was only when he wheeled in to a gas station that he realized what they were really pointing and waving about...the little eight inch wheels on the trailer just couldn't handle the gravel road at the speed he was driving and had gone flat at some time, then the rims had wore away until the little trailer was dragging on it's bumper!

My wifes grandparents went camping once and when they went to leave to go home they were driving down a small hill that curved to there right. Well when they got to the curve they seen a camper go zooming by them, and grandpa said boy that looks just like our camper. Turns out it was, it jumped off the hitch of the truck and they never felt it. Good thing was nobody was hurt and its still a funny story today!

Guess what happened when I pulled my 20' trailer that had a 2-5/16" coupler, latched on a 2" ball?

Yep, you guessed right!
