Was down in a ravine (WHY do I always have this happen in the most inaccessible parts of my property) and I get a very strong smell, takes a moment, I know the smell but why am I smelling it here. Turn and there is a LOT of smoke coming out of the hood of the tractor. And I realize it is diesel. Figure I am not seeing flames, drive it as far as I can to the most accessible spot. Didn't get too far up the hill before the engine was running rough...

Turns out that the hose going into the injector #4 (or is it #1, one closest to the tank) had popped off. Diesel was thrown everywhere thank you engine oil cooler and hydro oil cooler.... Tried to put it back on but it felt too loose to handle the PSI. Walked back home, thankfully found a bit of spare hose and back down the hill. Then up the hill for a quick power wash to get the diesel off and back to work.

Good for you. Glad you are safe and the machine suffered not. Had it been gasoline, might have been a different story.

Thank heaven for air cooled diesels!

Mine all have a factory crimp on them. What keeps yours on?

Mine just slip over. No crimp. It was how I got it from PT so who the heck knows. It may have been a serious pressure washing I gave it that knocked it loose as I have never had this problem before.

Yes, on the mist, but I got nervous with all the air movement of atomizing the diesel to the point of it becoming flamable.

Yeah! And when you burst a hydraulic hose it’s always on the steepest part of the property and away you go. . I guess your bigger PT has some kind of breaks though.
