I would have been throwing rocks earlier.. Small ones to start, Then 240 grain ones of .44 caliber, first one in the dirt. 2nd in the head. Never wise to go into bear country without being armed. That was a friendly bear, more curious than anything, or wanted them to throw some food, but next one they run into might be nasty. It is not good for bears to become people friendly. They need to fear people. But stupid people feed the bears.

I have Black Bears on my property, I don't leave the house without a pistol. Just picked up a .44 Mag just for this reason, it's my woods pistol/cannon. Unfortunately I sold it......._____

Where I live is considered a Bear Preserve, no hunting or killing bears unless it is attacking you or your family. Even if it attacks our livestock we are not "Suppose" to kill it. But the three S's has happened, Shoot, shove, and shut up. They keep bringing problem bears from the area and dumping them within 5-10 miles of us, so what the heck do they expect? We live here too, I will not put my safety or my kids safety in jeopardy because they want to "Save" a problem bear.

8" Nickle Ruger 44 Mag does the trick should I ever need it. My personal little cannon, sure wish I didn't sell it......

That was a serious situation but I started laughing when the speaker started giving dog commands. Did he think the bear came from a circus or something and knew commands? ROFLMA

I got a giggle out of that too.

The bear did look curious though, there was no jaw slapping or any actual charges. Still would of make me sweat a bit for sure though!

You might have larger 'rocks' than me ;)

I dont think my first shot would have been in the dirt. I might have saved all of them for the bear!

But toss rocks first for sure.. Try to defuse situation before it became deadly for either party..

And that's why you should always carry bear spray, toilet paper and nitro glycerin tablets in the woods....
