Well this is embarrassing. Ran my 3110 out of fuel.

Checked the oil this morning and the hydraulic fluid but forgot to check the fuel. I didn't think I had ran it much since I filled it last! I caught it before it died and there is fuel in the filter bowl but the tank was totally empty. Anyway I have never had this happen (though close once before). Do you crack the fuel lines to the injectors or the nut at the top (the ones connected together with short lengths of tubing leading eventually back up to the fuel fill neck)? Then just crank until you get fuel on each injector and tighten each as that happens right?

The fuel filter has two large screws with both hex heads and phillips head slots on it. Do the left one first, after you have refueled, and open it until fuel fills the bowl and dribbles out the bleeder. Do the right one next, until no bubbles come out. Then, near where the fuel bowl's line enters the injection pump, there is another identical screw. Do the same for it, until the fuel comes out without bubbles. I usually use my waste oil container under the pump, because I lose more fuel here than in the bowl bleedings.

Your tractor should be able to start without bleeding from the injectors at this point, but I have had machines that were stubborn about firing. I just loosen the injector line nuts a turn or so, activate my compression release (if available) and spin the engine until I see spurts of fuel. Then I tighten the nuts back down, and it will fire right up. I do them all the same time, rather than individually. Each injector has its own small pump anyway; they don't fill sequentially.

I guess I've been lucky. Bleeding those three points before the pump is all I've ever had to do. Never on the high pressure side of the system. Even after replacing the injectors.

Look at in a different way. You can check the tank for debris, flow all the lines and ensure there are no little uglies hung up there, change filter and practice priming.:thumbsup:
