Kubota mx4700 HST, New Holland TC-29D
I went to drive a Kioti today. I've been pouring over the forums for weeks, thanks for all the great info. I was drawn by the Kiotis for the obvious reasons, great reputation for a steal, or so it would seem. I grow vegetables on a small area in Wisconsin, I will use the tractor for plowing, tilling, mowing between 8-20 acres, and also for forestry applications. I have a Timberking B-20 bandmill, and a Farmi JL350 winch, so having a loader with a good lift capacity and a set of forks for logs and lumber sounds great. Currently farming with 2 Ford 8ns. So, talked to two dealers. Prices were as follows: Dealer 1: DS4110: 18,900, 4510: 19,900. Dealer 2: DS4110: 20,500, DS4510: 18,500. I told Dealer 2 that the price was way off on the DS4110, that it should be a grand less than the 4510, not $2000 bucks more! So, I went to dealer number 2, even though it was further away, 90mi instead of 70, because they had a little better selection, guy said they had a DS4510HS, a DS4110HST, and several dk40-50s. Should have picked up on the fact that there is no DS4110 with a Hydro. Guy didn't know a **** thing about these tractors, couldn't tell me what size Ag tires were available (not to mention not one tractor on the lot had them). Couldn't tell me if you were supposed to use the clutch with the hydraulic shuttle, didn't know if they were tier 3 or 4 emissions standards. I mean, I can't buy a tractor from that place, they don't even know what they are selling. How frustrating. On the way there I stopped at a Kubota dealership; I am buying this tractor (and farming in general with my Father). I thought it would be good for both of us to try a couple of tractors side by side so to speak. We drove a L3800 with HST. He liked the hydro a lot, and so did I, which was a surprise for me, I've been looking at the Shuttle type transmissions, although for cost reasons primarily. Dealer didn't have an L4600, but at that price, I realize I'd likely be better off with the MX4700. Any thoughts, this is driving me a little nuts. I might go up to the other dealer tomorrow, they are smaller, haven't been around as long, and their prices are higher. If I could get a better price from the other guys on the DS4110, I might have a bargaining chip. What would be a good price on the DS4110hs with loader? I was thinking 17,500. Much more than that and I might look harder at the Kubotas, I think the mx4700 with loader could be had for 22 or 23k. I like the price of the DS series, but I don't like the "nicer features" of the DK, in particular the electric controls for PTO and 4x4. I have been around cars and trucks long enough to know that it's a lot harder to break a lever than a button. Also, the tractor that we buy must have ag tires, no wider than 13.6 inches, preferably 12.4s instead, also, must be able to put the fronts and rears so they are 53 inches on center. I know this is kinda picky, but any info on adjustability, and tire size options would be great, I'm not getting that kind of help at the dealer. Well, I'm getting sore fingers now, thanks for all the info, the site is great. Any ideas appreciated.

kioti is what im going with in the spring. they have a small package deal with loader 4x4 box blade and bush hog. I watched a video on youtube of a guy digging a pond with his. seemed to be very strong for its size. his problem was no water in back tires I believe haha he kept wanting to tip with a full bucket

Sorry for editing, but I just couldn't fight through the wall of text.

Thanks, Poopdeck, it looks much better that way. Anyway, ended up with the Kubota mx4700. Wish that I could have had a DS4110 for about 6k less, but I just couldn't handle the thought of working with a sub-par dealer.

I think I congratulated you on another thread, but what the heck. Congrats again! :D The MX4700 is a really nice tractor and should serve you well for a long time.

Why did you go to dealer #2 when his prices were wacky and farther away?

What the heck. Anyone going through the drama (trauma?) of buying a tractor should get multiple congratulations.

Motownbrowne,
congratulations for a 2nd time!

Thanks for the double congrats.

Murphy, I went there because they are a tractor dealer primarily, other place mostly does forklifts. Also, they are in my state, which i liked and have been in business longer, which I thought was a good sign. I thought if I couldn't get a better price on the 4110 from them that I could still get the 4510 for the same price or less than the 4110 from the other guys. Of course knowing what I know now I would have gone about testing the kioti differently.
