were to mount 2 spare trailer tires? or how would you mount them on the front? i need some ideas.

i got tired of hauling straps / chains in vehicle so mounted an old metal / water proof box, on the front. and the lid folds down and sits almost flat over the jack stand.

i have... 3 sides and a rear gate. made out of 2x4's and some cross bracing. that fits onto the entire rear end / were sheet metal is. and fits right up against back side of the metal box. leaving no room for any sort of spare tire on rear of trailer.

i have 2 ramps, that could allow a full size vehicle, to drive up and over wheel wells / fenders. with that, *not* wanting to mount tires on side or some place on the back at all.

it is nice to be able to load / unload stuff from sides and back. of trailer so again not wanting to place spares on back any place.

trailer sets to close to the ground, for putting anything under neath. (axle sets on top of leaf springs). and have bottom trailer out a couple times.

it would be nice to some how easily paddle lock the wheels in place or like. to make it harder for thieves to take spare tires.

Apparently I no longer know how to post photos here, but I might fabricate a pair of vertical spare tire posts on each side of your equipment box. C channel welded/bolted to the frame and a horizontal support to hold the tire. Some gooseneck horse trailers use that.

no room. after 2x4 frame is placed on. i am already hugging yellow line, and driving on white line as it is.

if not make a hanger rack.. or

hanger rack sounds good, but for what ever reason just not picturing it in my mind. normally fairly good just looking and coming up with an idea and go from there. but what ever reason hit a road block.

if space on tounge for one.. stack em..
no room. just enough room to not have knuckle smacker on the metal box, when dealing with jack.

undersling them on left and right front. use a long carriage bolt and backer plate.. go thru deck.. then tire center hub hole then have that go thru a retainer bar or plate to retain tire.. then a nut.... weld wings ontot he nut so you can take it off by hand.. grease the threads to keep em from rusting.. DO use a backer plate with square hole and do drill that backer palte at the deck and put in a screw or nail. that keeps the palte on the deck side from spinning, and the sqaure hole inthe backer plate keeps the carriage bolt from spinning..

or make slide in racks under front and unloadable from side or front.. eithe or.... then make a simple bar / hasp lock retainter to keep someone else from sliding tires out... cheap padlock will work..

if the flat steel along the side is strong enough, could you cut a rectangle hole in it the width of the tire and about 1/3rd the diamiter, and simply drop the wheel/tires into the hole on end, have a metal band that would easily bolt the wheel in place, of course can't let them drop too deep as they will hit the ground;) one could e box in the bottom of the hole's,
the arrow shows where I'm suggesting,View attachment 269563

If I were running them tires I would want 4 spares. In all serious though I would go to a junk yard and get some pickup spare tire mounts and put them under the trailer. I do this from time to time for customers with travel trailers so they can put a bike mount on the back bumper where the spare tire is mounted most of the time.

I don't have a spare tire mount on one of my trailers. When I take a long trip with it I just put its spare in my truck. I don't bother on short trips because if I had a flat in town I would just call a friend or neighbor.
