With my L5740, I got what I think is a CAT 1 top link pin, another short CAT 1 pin, and a real nubby CAT 2 pin. I also got a small handful of lynch pins and bushings.

Another forum question for me would be: Are there any good 3PT "101" lessons out there? I went to hook up my cheap-chinese box blade and had to make do with two extra top link pins. It didn't seem right.

Every machine I have ever assembled for a customer, left with enough pins and linch pins for every implement that was purchased with that machine. If the 3-pt arms had spots for extra linch pins I included those too. The only time more pins were provided, were if the customer or sales person requested them. We never threw in more pins just because someday the customer might need them for an implement we don't know about. I know it seems cheap of the profit motivated dealers, but suprisingly that $10 or $15 worth of pins for every machine adds up.

I can argue it both ways, maybe three.
Yes it seems cheep and some dealers have "candy jars" of lynch pins sitting on the counter with "help yourself" signs on.
Top link pins and lift pins... well, they're a bit more expensive, but against a L5740 hardly going to consume the whole profit margin, cause a layoff or make anyone turn the lights in the showroom to dim.

Another side; a tractor is a tractor is what you bought.
Sure its a Swiss Army knife of a tool, but some of the things you can use are optional and you get the attaching hardware for those if/when you buy those options.

Another point is - this only MATTERS if it is your first and only tractor.
If 2nd or n'th you have a collection of these things laying around anyway.

About your second question about good 3pt "101" lessons, there is a forum section on "attachments." I am sure you could post a question there, and get good responses to specific questions, but there is a "sticky post" that is in that section that points to videos made by "EverythingAttachments.com" that many of us have enjoyed right much. I would review the video on box blades for example. I have been around tractors all my life, and so has one of my buddies, yet we still picked up either things we didn't know, or things we never thought of. Heck, there are even implements about which I had the attitude "who in the world would want one of those things" until I saw it in use in one of the videos.

WARNING: Do not go to that site unless you have some time. I found the site one day and was watching their demo videos for an hour or so. They are awesome and almost made me want more attachments that I had no use for.:):) EverythingAttachments.com
