I was researching the John Deere Q/A mounting system and called the local dealer who told me the pins and brackets were not available. I had been there before and did not feel particularly welcome. I called the next closest dealer and within 2 minutes had the part numbers and the quantity available. These are two different ownerships. Needless to say I went to the second one and was warmly received, they bent over backwards helping me with everything I needed to measure even though I had told them I had no intention of buying a tractor. I ended up buying the pins and brackets I need from them. They will get my business in the future! This for me just adds to how important a GOOD dealership is and even more so when you are buying a tractor.

Good thing you have a pretty good picture of how things are -- before you bought a tractor from those "chilly" folks just down the road!

And now you also know a better place to invest your time and money!

....they bent over backwards helping me with everything I needed to measure even though I had told them I had no intention of buying a tractor.

While that might be true for the moment, when/if it comes time to buy one, I bet I know where you'll go.

Seriously, the same thing happened with me...when we built the house I also bought a rough F935 to cut the grass, it was cheap and I wanted a project. My dealer gave me OUTSTANDING service, like you they bent over backwards to help me on a machine that they never sold, and to a person they didnt know. When the time came to buy a machine it was a simple decision....

Modified from another saying I heard: "a quality dealer is LONG remembered after the initial purchase price is forgotten"

It really is amazing what difference a dealer makes. A couple of years ago I needed a new utility tractor and decided on a 5000 4 wheel drive series with a front end loader. The dealer bent over backwards for the order, came out to my land to see what would work best for me and recommended a 990 instead. It was a little less expensive and it actually arrived with some extra options at no additional charge. Last year I called him to order a new gator and a couple of hours later a truck drove up with two gators. The dealer wanted me to try a couple of different models for the weekend before I ordered one so that he was sure I happy with my order. Needless to say, I only buy from this guy.

Welcome to TBN, Mike. You're a fortunate man! I would no more expect that my dealer would load up 2 gators for me to try out - than I would expect to look out my front window and see pigs fly!

Either circumstance would only happen with a significant number of beers - and the memory would pass by the time I woke up!
