What about choking the engine?

In the manual, it says DO NOT CHOKE THE ENGINE in big letters just like that. Well, I did, I got into some heavy stuff with the bush hog and couldn't stop it. It happened a couple of times. How bad is this? Should I just start shopping for a new tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I have a 1533.

Under what section of the manual does it say DO NOT CHOKE THE ENGINE? Being it has a choke, you obviously have a gas engine.

Did you actually pull out the choke to kill the engine when you for some reason couldn't stop the engine? Why wouldn't the engine stop by turning the ignition off? Why stop the engine just because of being "into some heavy stuff with the bush hog.." ?

LOL.. What I think he is talking about is stressing the engine, allot of black smoke.

I have 1533 and if I get into some hard grass it just loses power (no smoke). It seems they have something in the injector pump that stops you from over fueling the engine or maybe the ECU stops that from happening.

BUT I am not sure where this "DO NOT CHOKE THE ENGINE" is in the book, I don't see it in mine.
