What am I hearing?

I've been noticing a noise when I shut off my 240. It has the 3 cyl Perkins, and after the engine stops turning and the two red lights on the dash come on, somthing that sounds like it's spinning at a high rate of speed can still be heard. It takes it about 3 to 5 seconds to slow down and finally stop. Is this any thing to be concerned about? Or better yet, does anybody know what this might be? It's kind of a high pitched wineing noise. Thanks for the help

MichaelE, If it has one it might be the electric fuel pump shutting down. Some of the newer models have a small electric pump to get the fuel from the tank to the injector pump. Other than that I can't think of anything else unless of course it the air suspension leveling things up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif(kiddiing)

I don't know what it would be without actually looking at it, but MF 240s don't have electric fuel pumps. The fuel pump on the 240 is a mechanical pump mounted on the side of the engine block.

I have only had this tractor since early April, and while it may have made this sound all along, I've noticed it only in the last couple of weeks. The only change I've made was to install one of those isolator/selector valves ontop of the trans housing for a rear remote, but I can't see how that could make any noise,especially one that you could hear when everything else has stopped moving. I'm going to try to pinpoint this more by shuting down with the clutch disengauged. Mabye the throw out bearing continues to spin after the pressure plate has stopped. Could that be possible?
