My Gator XUV just arrived at the dealership a few days ago and he is waiting for some of the options. I should have it next week. I checked four dealers, two being the same company but at different stores, one other multi-location dealer, and one independant John Deere dealership. I bought from the individual family store.
I traded in an 06 HPX and only paid attention to the difference price. The problem I found out with trading in a low hour (44 hours) 06 is that they can't give a huge amount on a trade-in. The new 07 HPX lists for about $8495 and they sell them in the $7800 range brand new. They are reluctant to give more that $7000 to $7500 for your 06 trade because a prospective customer can buy a new one with a warrenty for only a few hundred dollars more. That added to the fact that most everyone probably will want the XUV and not the HPX.
The 06 HPX is a vast improvement over the 05 HPX which I also had. The HPX is an excellent machine but I always want the new and improved. I am looking at the extra 5 mph (and hope is can be chipped eventually) and the smoother ride.
Lets discuss the trade-in difference. I knew I was going to take a hit so I prepared myself. First of all the XUV has a $1000 higher list price than the HPX. That will automatically add $1000 to the trade-in. This will be my fourth new Gator in four years and I always add a few options between trades. My trade-in gator was equipped the same as the new XUV expect I did add the poly roof ($359), grill guard ($89), and skid plate ($79). Those three extra options ran the total list up another $527. My trade-in and the new XUV both have the power dump, deluxe tail lights, turn signals, flashers, bed liner, horn and floor mats so my 06 HPX will be worth a little more to whoever buys it. I paid a difference of $2750. Take away the $1000 higher lsit and it is like paying $1750 difference. Subtract the $527 in extra options and it is like paying only $1223 difference for a model year change. (Whoever mentioned they cold trade for $500 a year better jump on that deal and get it in writing).
I know I am still paying $2750 but when I break it down it makes me feel a little better. The spread in price from the lowest to highest dealer was about $1350. One dealer wanted a $4100 trade-in.
