what are the differences between 25 and 20 series?

Seems like other than HP they are about the same size/weight?

The 3725 uses a 2.1 liter four while the 3520 is a 1.7 liter triple. The larger 20 series are fours. The 3pt and cruise controls are on the fender on the 25 series but weren't on the 20s though that may have changed. The 25 series comes with the dual remotes (I'm not sure all dealers are doing that). The 25 series had two levelers for the 3pt, one for each arm.

Something else I noticed is that the 20 series does not have armrests, but the 25 series does. Guess they need to update the 20 series.

The 25 series is the update on the 20 series. They go from 35 hp up to 60 hp. At least in Europe.

For some reason the US website just list them up to 42 hp.

The 25 series in USA only have the A2000 2.0 liter 4 cylinder at this time. The larger 47 and 55 HP 20 series have the A2300T 2.3L turbo 4 cyl engines. There was some talk about the 25 series having a heavier gauge steel frame, but that may have been an upgrade the newer 20 series get as well. Also the seats can be easily swapped out. The 25 series have adustible 3pt links on both arms, whereas the 20 series is adjustable only on one side. Other than that, for the 25 series the PTO/Hazard buttons are on the fender, not the steering console like the 20 series. Oh, and the chrome pieces on the hood for 25 series.

Just bought a brand new 4225 and it came with a plain seat no armrests.

My 3725 that I received last Feb (first 25 model my dealer had sold) has no armrests. I'm ok with that, I would just take them off. The only flat straight place to operate on my land is only about 100 feet long.

Yes, I think it is hit and miss. Some of the 25 series come with a "premium" decal written on the hood and have the deluxe seat. One thing to note, the armrests are removable and even the non-deluxe seat has the two mounting holes under the fabric if you wanted to add them. The headrest is a bit useless imo. It makes it hard to swing your arm over the back and look at rear implements working, so I just removed mine. And it just slides in, no detents to lock it in place at various heights. Mostly for looks.
