What are YOUR plans for the next few days....???

On the afternoon on Turkey Day we head for (insert generic location) 50 miles away to spend the day with my wife's family...this will be after we get up and after hitting the local (insert generic location) Meijers near us in Michigan for the specials. Then on Friday we will spend the day with my family in (insert generic location) Michigan. Then on Saturday three other couples and we will get together to view the latest Hunger Games movie in (insert generic location) 25 miles distant and afterwards enjoy dinner at a Red Lobster located in (insert generic location here)....and party the remainder of the night away at our place in (insert yet another generic location here) while we host them.

Another big holiday in the lives of us recently married folks, and it sounds THRILLING....right? I am editing this because others have commented on being divided families...that is so commonplace today, one of my wife's daughters and one of her sisters lives in the Twin Cities area and her son and his family live in Illinois. Getting together for the holiday season used to be much less complicated !!

We are a divided family!! One son lives here in Illinois, the daughter lives downtown Chicago and the oldest son lives in Florida. I still stay up here in Illinois as i am awaiting retirement from United Airlines early in 2016. The wife stays at our home in Tenn. most of the time...she is on the road as a consultant. So....that being said, turkey day will be a 'fly in' at Florida with all the family and 4 grandkids. Christmas will be up here in Illinois this year. Everyone enjoy their time with family and friends !!

We are a divided family also and won't be traveling this year (than God). One of the 5 kids will be coming to our house with his wife and son. His daughter will be driving up from her college to spend T'giving with us also. The rest of the clan will be with others for the holiday and scattered from Denver to Houston to Cincinnati. Maybe we will all be together for Christmas. The holidays just don't seem to have as much meaning as they once did when all the kids were still at home.

Wife was a military brat, then she had a momentary lapse of common sense and married me, an active duty sailor. She moved every three years for the first 47 years of her life.

I moved every 1-3 years for 22 years.

Not surprisingly, neither of us cares one little bit about ever traveling again.

Might see youngest daughter and grandson who live 5 minutes away on foot. Rest of the kids/grandkids/great grandkids are too far away and too busy. After so many years of being half the world away from family during the holidays, we lost the habit of holiday gatherings. Ain't going nowhere, ain't doing anything special beyond I gotta go pick up a mess of lobster for dinner.

Oh, and the first Christmas Party of the season to attend tomorrow evening.

Taking the family out to a country buffet restaurant for turkey day lunch. Wife has done enough cooking and cleaning over our life so I started encouraging her to let me pay someone to do it.

Thinking about renting an excavator and digging some stumps this weekend if they are open. I will need to teach myself to run it. Planning to rent one for a week or two over the Christmas holidays if I don't find a deal on a backhoe.

That is exactly what I wanted to do, but my wife vetoed that. Of course, I'll do most of the cooking and she'll do most of the cleaning.

Both daughters, their husbands, and 2 grandchildren will be here today, but the next few days? Well, it's supposed to be raining the next 2 days so we'll stay inside, watch TV, and maybe play some card games.

It took some talking to get them to go for it last year. This year, not so much. My wife, daughter, and MIL didn't seem to mind leaving all those dishes on the table in the restaurant.

I'm not doing anything at all. Farting around on the 'net today, and tomorrow. Saturday I'm going to a Christmas party in a town 2.5 hours away. It is a company party and I don't worry about driving home. The company ponied up for a room for me.
