While looking used is good for price a new one will not be that much more and with zero fincancing its an even better deal.
I have just under 2 acres and have a Kubota BX24 and I love it. I do not mow with it as I have a husky mower so until that dies I will use it. The loader with handle about 500 pounds and the backhoe works great. I just dug out 7 tree stumps over the last 2 evenings after work. Yeah it isn't a full size machone and it has its limitations but it has done everything I asked of it and more.
As far as brand. Go to the different dealers and drive em all. Thats what I did. I went with Kubota because I liked the feel better than the others. Also the dealer took care of me where as the JD dealer treated me like I had the plague. Around here the dealer open and close like the tides change so I wanted one that had been around and will probably weather the storm.
