Honestly, people will reply to this but do a thread search. There have been plenty of postings on both subjects. You did not provide much information either, in that you didn't say what you were cutting, how much, or how often. For the PHD, what are you drilling into?
The majors all make decent finsih mowers. woods, bush hog, etc etc
Leinbach has it's own following here, mainly because they are cheaper than some other brands.

I Bought a used 6 foot landpride finish mower & a Leinbach post hole digger with 3 sized augers off of Craigslist for a grand . They were only a few months old & like new .
Both work Great for Me & seem to be made very well , But I have no Rocky soil to drill holes into .

. BobWhat about Caroni? I've +/- 6 acres to mow. It's always been a hayfield (not tended by us), and we're going to plow part of it (+/- 3 acres) and turn the rest into yard/ballfield. It'll be a total of about 6 or 7 acres to mow. Is a 6' sufficient? Or do I need bigger? I know Caroni makes a realitively cheap 7 1/2' model. Post hole digger will be for setting out fruit/nut trees and setting the ocassional 4 x4 or 6x6 post. Only red clay - very little rock nor roots. Thanks for any input.
Caronis another fine mower IMO . I have a 5 footer which was a little bit to small for the 12 acres I mow which is Why I got a 6 footer . You have a larger HP wise tractor so I would get as big as a mower that it will handle IMO .
Even a foot of width makes more difference then one would think . As far as the Post hole digger I,d say the Leinbach would do fine . I,ve put in about 100 or so 12 inch holes since I,ve had mine & it Handled some clay & smaller roots with no problem so far. Just my opinion . Bob

Caroni makes very decent equipment, and normally their equipment costs less than comparable equipment. Their website may allow you to see what they have available. Caroni S.p.a. - Costruzioni meccaniche The compnay is based in italy and it appears to be state of the art. I had a friend of mine who speaks fluent italian to call them. You can alos buy their stuff from various distributors here in the U.S. Of course all those distributors make a little from every sale.

Woods makes the best RFM finishing mowers hands down. I have owned two Woods 6' rear finishing mowers. A RM660 and presently a PRD7200. I also owned a Caroni 6' RFM for a couple of years. I'll never buy a Caroni again. I spent more time working on it than mowing.
