I am looking at a used rotary mower. for my skid steer. The seller told me something is bent in the drive line. I couldnt lift it up the day I looked at it but will.

Seems like the only things that could go wrong art the shaft coming out of the box (not direct drive) and the plate holding the blades.

Anything else you can think of?

80 hp box runs about 230 to replace and I am not sure how much the plate would be.

could be many things. mandrels shaft? pulley? blade? mounting bolts to mandrels? blade? Sorry to state obvious but, that is all I can think of unless someone can chime in to this specific brand?

230.00 sounds too cheap for an 80 HP gearbox. I would check that again.

Ya you are right on the cheap gearbox. They don't run the same box as a bush hog. Was worth a shot. I can't get the manufacture to price me parts. They refer me to a dealer. We will see what they end up asking for it.

It could just be the stump jumper.

bent stump jumper, leaking seals, bent blades, there is plenty to go wrong or cause vibration.
Bent shaft could mean the inside of gear box is tore up. If it's been beat up.. pass on it unless you plan on doing a lot of work.

what brand?

I passed,
Going tomorrow to buy a new one.

I am buying a Prowler brand, It is a rebaged CID out of Denton NC. Good looking heavy duty unit.

The used one turned out to have a ear of the blade holder broken off. That is a 5/8 thick plate. and it diddnt break in a thin spot. It was about 3 inches across where it broke. I am betting it had to be a crack in the metal. Shame too. It spun true and diddnt look bad. Oh well. I guess with new at least I get to mess it up.

We booked a job this week for it so we need to get it and get used to it before we go out and do that job. It isint anything hairy just steep banks and multi floral rose.
