What decides hydraulic hose size

What decides hydraulic hose size . I want to get a single arm pallet grapple and need to run hoses from bucket area to rear remotes . Also my tractor has looks like steel lines that run down the loader arms for loader operation. I have a lot of SS 3/8 rolls of new line ( was going to be used as air line s many years ago.)
. Can I use that ??

The short answer, yes the 3/8 will work (on a tractor) for the single cylinder grapple. Other applications like a hydraulic auger may not.

What pressure is the 3/8 SS line rated for? If for air it probably would nit be rated for hydraulic use.

I would use 1/4", it slows it down a little.

Generally the systems (or circuit) GPM (gallons per minute) flow rate.
