Hello to all!
My first post, as I am a new (to me) tractor owner!!!
Here is a picture of it

I had been looking for a Ford 4500 with backhoe and PTO for nearly 9 months now. My wife and I bought some land and want to build a house, and use it to snow blow the half mile long driveway. I cam across one on Craigslist that was 650 miles from where I live, I called the gentlemen that was selling it, asked a few questions, and got some pictures so that I knew what I was getting, and agreed to buy it sight unseen as long as it ran and was what he said it was.
He gave me a model # of 45022G
Which I decode as a
(4) 4000 (early)
(50) industrial
(2) gas
(2) 540 pto
and G?????
I asked what transmission it has and he said it is a 4 speed with HI LO
I took that as, its the 8 speed "C" transmission and the "G" is being miss read due to grease or mud or darkness.
So I get there, the thing fires right up at 5 degrees out side. Bonus the thing also has 3 pt hitch lift arms. I look at the model number just behind the starter yup 45022G!
I look at the sticker for the transmission shift pattern, its a standard "H" pattern with 2 forward and 2 reverse gears with a Hi Lo shifter.
I've been doing research on the web and can find no reference anywhere to this transmission on any ford tractor, much less a 4500. Not even the owners manual that came with the tractor has any information on it.
The backhoe is real tight and so is the loader, The tractor seems to run great with no issues other than the transmission is making a "whine" when the clutch is released weather in gear or not, sound like a hydraulic pump? maybe for the 3 point lift hydraulics?? I will see if it goes away when it warms up, haven't had a day above 10 since I got it.
What else do I need to know about these things???
Thanks for any help and information!
Jason
