So, A couple of months ago I ran through two oil filters on my PT in quick succession. The backstory is that I have a PT, which is an all hydraulic tractor. It was used, left to rot in the sun basically, until a kind gentleman salvaged it and its twin and restored it.

This all said, within a few hours of ownership the filter the tractor stopped running right. I contacted PT, and the advice was imediate and simple, change the hydraulics oil filter. And that I may have to repeat as the tractor is getting stuff out of its system.

So, now the tractor appears to be running just fine... But I went back to those old oil filters and cut them open, i guess expecting to find a pot of gold.

Instead, the paper filter looked just fine. I am thinking that maybe what I am looking for may be microscopic? A couple of chunks (pin head size at the most) of black...

Should I put the filter under a microscope (don't really want to send anything in yet for testing).
