It is on FB with a bunch of other stuff. Asked the guy has not responded yet, so I thought I would ask the brain trust.

It looks like a buzz saw.

That looks like a giant belt drive wheel. I haven't tried to look on google yet.

EDIT: Yeah actually that is probably not a wheel it is probably a guard for the buzz saw.

My grandad had one similar to that the mounted to the front of his JD A tractor and was driven by big flat leather belt.

We had one when I was much younger (late 60s) we mounted on our JD 520 and it was truly the image of death and when it got spun up it sounded like it too. Between the blade with no guard and the floppy belt it was a terror. Dad told us to stay the hell away when it was running. I only recall him being the only one to feed the beast. It is still in the shed somewhere along with a couple blades.

We also had an old belt driven hammer mill to grind feed. Not quite as terrifying but sounded just as scarely. The floppy belt took some knowledge to get just right.

We had the belt driven hammer mill running off of an M Farmall, yeah you had to make sure that belt was lined up just right or it would keep coming off.

A pto run buzz saw can buck up a considerable amount of wood with enough manpower to do the job,
two men lifting and cutting, with one grabbing the drops and chucking them into a trailer or a big pile.
The same saw with a flat belt is also a wood eating fool when it works right.
To me when doing a lot of smaller wood that two men can easily get up on the table the buzz saw is nicer then a chain saw.
When it's to large to handle or not having the second man then these new chain saws are nice,
go back before chain saws were common and affordable those were the saws to have.

Yeah, I didn't mention earlier but the chainsaw we had was an old Homelite (as I remember, it was big and red) that took two men and a boy to run since it was so heavy. Maybe the buzz saw was better. I was only old enough to pick up what I could when the noise stopped and not before. We thought we had it made when we got our first Stihl.

Good to get these perspectives from the time period of this 'buzz saw'. As far as i know, 2 stroke chainsaws were already somewhat common when i was born, and i never thought to ask myself when that type of equipment became common. Always good to find one of my blind spots and be able to put a little something in it (what it was like chopping wood before modern chainsaws). Thanks for sharing.
