25 HP Simplicity Legacy (80s/90s)
Just got a 25 hp Simplicity legacy given to me by my uncle. The thing is a beast, but I’m wondering what would be the best attachments to get? Looking to snag a single stage 42” snowblower, 42” plow and a 24” tow behind roller this week. Are there any specific attachments you recommend? I will be using this for projects around the home and would like to start a small business if possible.

IMO, If you want this to last any amount of time, stick with what it was meant to do - mow grass at your home.

& what makes you say that? Wouldn’t make sense to have the attachments available if it wasn’t made for it. I could see with a lower end model, but this is one of the more powerful gas mowers Simplicity offered from my understanding.

Make sure that blower and blade will fit, it appears the blower in the picture is belt driven, the Legacy uses a shaft driven blower.
The front blade appears to be for a different model, the blade for the Legacy uses a different mount type and a subframe.

The Legacy is a stout machine that is very capable, I have the previous version of it, the Sunstar, there are some differences but a lot of the structure is the same.
I have a 2stage blower on mine, it'll move some snow!

I had a very nice John Deere 318 that I used ground engaging implements on and it really abused that tractor in many ways. I just think these garden tractors are too light for real ground engaging implements. They will run them but it's very hard on them, IMO.

It's a lawn mower not a sub compact tractor... Best you can do in get ATV implements which will probably be sub par for work you want it to do.....

It makes sense to have attachments available if someone will buy them. That's the only requirement. All the more emphatically so in the case of attachment makers whose products could fit tractors/mowers of multiple brands.

These were offered in multiple configurations, including diesel and 4wd.
They offered a factory loader and backhoe for them, usually manufacturers won't do that due to warranty if it's not able to handle it.

That machine is on par build quality with many scuts and very capable, not to be confused with the similar looking models that are pretty much just mowers.

Ah. Ignorance fought! Thank you!

I have one with FWD, 540 PTO and Loader. It is very handy to have. However, it is low slung and 3-point lift height is an issue with rear mounted implements. Standard Cat 1 blades, etc are too large to lift off of the ground. A 48 inch tiller will work with a Quick Hitch which moves the tiller about 3 inches rearward to gain a little height. Shortening the top link can add height but tilts the tiller forward. Subcompact designed implements would be much better.

Simplicity brand was dropped in 2023 by Briggs and Stratton. They still support prior machines and have parts. Brand was declining sales, B&S wants you to buy new machines from one of their other brands.

Don't think you really want or will find single stage snowblower. Two stage is preferable. If that model uses PTO for snowblower, I consider that a plus, as mine for my Kubota is PTO as well. Have had belt driven and IME was a nightmare.
