Wearing the seatbelt when traversing a hillside makes turning around to check the depth of any implement nearly impossible. I'd like to instal a backup cam that I could easily disconect and bring inside. Any thoughts?

I'm most likely going to get slatted for saying this - but the easiest solution is to just not wear the belt...! :confused3:

I know in our modern age of health and safety, risk assessments etc.. that tractor manufacturers are now forced to fit belts, but personally I have never seen or heard of anyone who actually wears the belt while working in the field - although I do know a few farmers with fast tractors (over 25mph) who do wear seat belts on the road.

Most large tractors still have a safety decal in the cab, informing the operator to remain seated and hold the steering wheel in the event of turn over - as long as you do this (and of course have proper ROPS fitted), then you should be fine in the event of a roll over. If you really feel happier wearing your seat belt, then maybe get a seat which can be swivelled and locked at an angle (again standard in most large tractors) - this allows you to sit at 45 degrees (with your belt on if you want), and see both ways easily....

Of course it is totally your choice of whether or not to wear a seatbelt, and I respect that many people will not share my opinion that they are not necessary in the field....

There have been a couple of threads on backup cameras for ag use, so try a search. The bottom line as I recall is the better cameras cost more, but the cheaper models may work just fine if you don't have to see clearly.

I have a Peak with a 7" monitor in my motor home. It works great and was fairly inexpensive.A lot of the back up cameras only have a 3.5" monitor and you realy cannot see much on that small of a screen.

I don't know whether you have a roof or not, but if you do, you may want to consider a wide -angle boat mirror. I did that on my DK and it has been excellent. I love back-up cameras on my vehicles, but the mirror provides a much clearer picture of both directly behind me and the edges. Here is the post I put up on it.

if had choice, would most likely also go with a very wide rear view mirror like phifeerpharm. only issue. is getting a mirror that adjusts fairly easy. but the mounts that allow tilting / adjusting. be strong enough to handle all the vibrations and bumps without coming loose. hit my head on mirror to many times. and couple times had to set back down i hit it so hard with my head, due to mirror fell down (tilt / angle was loose)

being able to just reach up real quick with a hand/s and adjust mirror pending on implements. makes life easy. granted i will still turn body /neck around to double check things that mirror does not cover. but *shrugs*

i know combines and larger field only tractors have rear camera setups. but not sure how a camera on a SCUT / CUT / utitly class size tractors would hold up. with all the dust/dirt that comes with operating tractor, and keep the camera lens clean. not to mention keeping the sun off of a LCD display. so you can easily see things.

Do a search for posts by 4Shorts. He had a neat installation for a camera on a L5740. I'm about to copy it myself. This situation is even more of a pain with a cab.
