HI I am new at this! what is a box scrape and what can you use it for? You see i have always lived in the city (still do) but we have a 10 acre place that we are working on out in the sticks. I just learned to drive a tractor to mow with and we have a 3point hitch and a box scrape i think (it is square kinda with hooks that you can move up and down with a pin) i would be really gratfull if some one could explain it to me or tell me where i can learn more.

Very useful. Primarily used for picking up dirt and leaving it elsewhere, such as leveling out a lumpy, humpty area. Also great for restoring a rutted gravel driveway. There are about as many uses for this implement as the imagination of the operator can envision.

Here are some pictures of my boxblade. i use it for grading, tilling soil, making trails, and clearing land. It is currently used behind my Yanmar 169D. It will come in handy for you. I had mine modified to fit my i match systems on my Yanmar and my grandpas JohnDeere 2210. Im only 14 and it was my first implement I bought. I think I got it when I was 12.

You can move a lot of material from where you don't want it to where you do want it in a very short amount of time. My old barn had 3 doors on 3 walls and had recycled asphalt drives that went to the doors. My new barn only has one overhead door. The following link shows what I was able to do in a couple of hours with my little tractor and a box blade. I have since moved the pile to a better location for future use with my dirt scoop.

You can try, but it's primary use isn't for tilling the soil. A rear-pto tiller would be quite expensive, but they are the cat's whiskers. If you want to break up the soil in your garden, and make your walk behind tilling soooooo much easier on your arms and body, then break it up first with a middle buster plow. This is a very inexpensive, but very, very useful implement for a gardener.

Good conversation and pix there.
