Hey everyone,

I have a 1994 d4c dozer that we bought at an auction 4-5 years ago. We have done routine maintenance on it and fixed all leaks etc. I believe the dozer has a rebuilt cat engine in it and it runs extremely well. It has approx. 5600 hrs on it and as far as I know it needs nothing. What would be a fair amount for me to expect to receive in selling it? We paid $20k for it when we bought it. Is 17-18k a reasonable amount to expect? I am going to work one more weekend and then plan on putting it up for sale. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here's a 1993 with 9100 hrs for 24K. The prices here always seem to be a bit higher then you can find locally but it's a good place to get a ballpark number.

While I've never sold a dozer, I've looked at quite a few before buying mine. I'd think that if you parked it out front with For Sale painted on the blade, you'd sell it in time. I'd check Equipment Trader Online.com-Search Over 35,000 Listings to Buy or Sell New and Used Equipment and Construction Equipment at Machinery Trader: Caterpillar, Komatsu, Case, John Deere, Volvo along with any other classifieds in your area to get some comps first. Dozers in good running order really don't depreciate very much. Catepillar ones hold there value better then any others. I'd start at $22,000 and wait for $20,000. There is allot of junk out there in that size that's in need of allot of work for the hight teens.

Your dozer is the perfect size for a contractor who needs to move it around. Light enough to pull with a one ton pickup truck will make it very attractive to allot of potential buyers.

Good luck,
Eddie

You're going to pull an 18K pound machine with a 1 ton P/U? I sure wouldn't. I have a 1 ton dually and max vehicle and trailer weight combined is rated for 23.5K, you would be way over that.

Whether it's right or wrong.... it is done ALL THE TIME! Full size backhoes are very common behind 1 ton trucks... and they are normally in the 15-18k range.
