What is an estimated hours per gallon for JD 300 Lawn Tractor

Any guestimate as to how many hours per gallon I should expect on my '77 JD 300 lawn tractor? (Kohler 16hp) I'm just trying to gauge how it's running. Assume running full throttle.

I'm estimating about 1.5 hours based on a Briggs 12HP I have on another LT that seems to run about 2 hours on 1 gallon.

It really doesn't matter if it's running full throttle or not. What matters is how hard the engine is working. I can run all winter on one tank of fuel pushing snow and putzing around. In spring rototilling gardens that tank is almost all gone after four hours.

Yeah, this is a "toy" for the kids --with a 4' x 4' trailer they pull around; riding; etc. The trailer probably weighs 150#. So when loaded, it is probably working pretty good especially up the hills. I was figuring they should get at least an hour per gallon, but on the first tankful, somehow we got about 1 hour. There may have been some shenanigans (gas stolen) to blame during the transport. Either that or there was some leak - maybe slushing around on the trailer? I don't know - just trying to get an estimate now that it is at the house.
