Tractor
Deere x575
I will be towing my new tractor tomorrow morning for just over 200 miles. I have rented a uhaul 6x12 with ramps. I have 2 heavy duty rachet straps 16' long. I have no chocks at this time. What is the best way to secure load and should I have the tractor in gear or nutural, parking brake on?.... or should I let the mower rock with the straps securing the load. The mower has a shaft driven deck so perhapse is has a drive shaft to the rear wheels. I don't want to put tractor in a hard bind when stopping or taking off.
Thank you

i am assuming a box van, not open trailer,

i think there are tie downs in the floor?

i would put in 4wd, park brake on,
and secure from front and rear,
it should be fine

(pull a little forwards, and a little backwards if
you can tie like that)

None of that size JD are belt driven.

As Dutch445 said...put in park, tie for and aft. Check it if you have to brake hard to see that the load hasn't shifted.

Didn't say if this is open or closed trailer. I assume if it is UHaul, that it is enclosed.

Have a good trip. The tractor will ride well (if you load slightly ahead of the trailer wheels).

Thank you, it is a open trailer with tandem axels. I think it will tow fine.

What are you towing it with if I may ask?

I hauled my latest 455 about 800 miles last spring, from Ohio to WI. Rode just fine. Straps were just for looks. :D

You will be startled once in awhile with that thing following so closely behind in your rearview mirror. :)

probably too late, but if it's one of their open 6x12 type trailers,
i would recommend pushing that tractor all the way to the front
of the trailer and strapping it tight , pulling forward. I haul
tractors like that on our 6X12 all the time, no place to go
that way, and i am confident with 1 strap (if it's heavy enough)

I am back with my tractor!! I left at 2:30 am, est and after 480 miles and 2" of snow it is now in my yard getting snowed on. It is nicer then I remembered and it had me thinking "is it really worth the money, the drive and the chance it might not test out", but I can say it was well worth it. It is giong to shine up like a new penny. Can someone tell me what's best for cleaning, buffing a few shoe marks and waxing? I know the plastic doesn't like all cleaners. I tied it off as best as I could to the front but it rocked an inch or so through out the drive. I also paid the widow the 4500.00 I didn't feel right trying to get her down considering her situation. I had a nice local deal on a 50 hr x300 with bagger for 1700.00 but I am not looking back. Cheers to all
