Kubota 3130 --- RTV900--- Yamaha Big Bear 4X4--BX2660
Thinking of trading my 04 RTV900 Work Site with about 400 hours, on a new Special Edition with a Curtis Plow on it. Mine is in pretty good shape a few dents in the bed from throwing wood in and the plastic seat has a hole from where the plastic cracked.
Another question. I notice mine is hard to start below 15 degrees. Is this common or just mine. I'm giving some thought to a block heater on the new one. My 3130 Kubota starts as soon as you hit the starter. The 900 cranks a while even after hold the heater for 30 seconds.

i would save the money and keep you 04 and just buy the attachments. 400 hours is brand new i think they would rob you blind if you traded it in anyways. just add up how much money you would have spent on the new one and drop it into the 04 and make it a bling!bling!04 with all the bells&whisles. if it's paid off just drop it off at the dealer and have them go through it and do a full service on it .

I agree with your logic. That would be the sensable thing to do. But I kind of want to enjoy some of those savings I worked all those years for. I have watched a lot of my friends go to the big hunting ground without enjoying theirs. I just can't find any place to get what mine should be worth or what they are paying for theirs.

My 2006 RTV 900 starts right up(-12 degrees) after the glow plug for a few seconds.Have you checked your battery lately?I have found if you do not keep a good battery in a diesel they crank slow and hard.I also use battery minders to keep all of my batteries up to snuff.I say hang on to your 2004 unless you can sell it outright, dealers won,t give you anything on trade.coobie

if you trade it in the only one that will come out ahaed is the bota dealer. heck if it's paid off just keep it and buy a new one that way you'll have two.then fix up the old one slowly but the old one sonds like it ain't that old.

Yep the battery is always up. I keep it charged. It has always been slow to come to life when cold. Like I said my 3130 Kubota starts right away. I guess I need a block heater. If I put a safety light and cover it it will start right up.
This was the second one the dealer sold. Got it in Febuary of 04. Have several Kubota recall fixes maybe they have improved them somewhat. I don't know if that pressure dump valve on the new ones makes shifting any better or not. I ususally just shut the engine off move it out of gear and restart it when it gets hung up cause of pressure.

Tommy the only one that ever comes out ahead is the dealers.

Coot,
I don't know how the market is in your area, but around here there are plenty of people that would love a chance to buy a decent used RTV, but very few for sale. I would suggest putting yours up for sale. I know I would consider buying one in the condition and hours of yours. Just my thought.

What kind of price would you guys advise asking for it? I know last fall the dealer offered me $8500 trade in.

Take a look at this site:

KUBOTA RTV900, Used KUBOTA RTV900, KUBOTA RTV900 For Sale At TractorHouse.com

Give you an idea on what they are selling for year/condition. If the dealer offered you $8500 you would need to get that amount plus the sales tax on that amount just to break even a private sale. Unless the dealer knocks off more with no trade.....

Thank you, that is a big help. Looks like, if he still will give $8500 that is about as good as I'm going to do. Thanks again for the information. I've been trying to find something like that.:D
