All I see is that the 1860 has metal hood and fenders apposed to the 1850 plastic.

1850 had an abrupt stop issue in reverse.

As I understand, the abrupt stops were in forward and reverse. I was told something changed internally in the trans and the linkage, as well. I think the 60 has an upgraded seat too.

Had a BX2350 for a short period of time. Traded it to a BX2660 to get away from the 50 series, that serious of a problem for me with the abrupt stop in reverse. I had no issue with forward. Some parts were plastic which didn't bother me but some expressed bad feelings for the plastic vs metal parts.

I had both. Had the 1850 for about 4 months before trading it back in on a BX1860 with some "help" from Kubota due to the abrupt reverse stopping issue. Had the BX1860 for 2 years before trading it in on my BX25. The elimination of the abrupt stopping and reversion to metal hood and fenders were the main changes from the 50 series to the 60 series. I don't think the seat changed. They did make the hydraulics usable at idle speed on the 60 machines whereas you couldn't move the 3PH or loader at idle on the 50 series. I think there were one or two other very minor changes that I can't recall.

I do notice firmer stop in reverse than forward, so I let off the pedal a bit smoother.

I’d like to know this also. As my 1850D has become older the plastic seems more brittle. Both the hood and the large “U” shaped piece below the hood have cracks and look bad.
