I am confused by skid steer style attachments. I know there is the basic skid steer style. But there is a so-called "global carrier" and I think another style as well. Which is which and how do I tell or know the difference?

This matters because I'm about to buy a bracket that will hook to my JD quick tach on one end and have the skid steer style on the other and don't want to screw it up by getting the wrong style. It seems most attachments would be skid steer yet Kubota uses the global carrier on some of it's big tractors. Is skid steer style the best and most readily available?

Please fill in any info you can since I am clueless on this. Thank you in advance.

Global is something entirely different. Its for heavier machines mostly.

I believe the global style is also known as the Euro style and is said to be more rugged that the SSQA system. However, I think you will find that SSQA attachments are more readily available at this time.

Someone told me that is a Quike style attachment but now I see it's called global. I looked at some equipment at an auction last week and they had the global on everything. The tractors were NH Powerstar 75.

Skid steer is easily to tell because you'll see two levers behind the bucket. I've had both skid steer and global and much prefer the skid steer. The Deere global is two pins you take out and release the bucket. It's not that much more difficult to skid steer but just not my preference. Couldn't really tell you which was one is superior to the other though since both have worked fine for me. I can tell you that I'll remove my bucket more often from the skid steer type loader then I do the global carrier, it's just easier to me.

Some skid steer buckets have 1 lever as my Kioti does.

Its been around for 40+ years, I don't think its going anywhere too soon. Its too easy and cheap of a system to just bail on. If anything is going it would be the JD quick attach way before the SSQA.

Yep, skid steer is what you want. Where are you getting it from?
