Mahindra 2615 HST w/ FEL
I have a 2005 Mahindra 2615hst with fel with 303 hours. I service it as directed, keep it under roof when not in use, and use it mainly to bush hog. I put about 80 hours a year on it. If I continue to service it properly, how long can I expect my tractor to last? In other words, how many hours before any major drive train issues might occur. Also, I know Mitsubishi made the engine but who made the transmissions in these model tractors. Oh, one last thing, the discussion on the loader cracking the blocks has startled me. Is this issue really that common?

thanks in advance.

mapp1, my 2005, 2615 has about 380 hrs., and I expect it to out live me. I believe the entire tractor is made by Mitsubishi. Mitsu is not new to tractors. Just go the the Mitsu forum to see some of their stuff. Also, some of the pre Yanmar powered Cub Cadets are made by Mitsubishi, and have received good reports.

The only report I've heard of a cracked block was on a 2615 the owner neglected to maintain.

Extremely rare on loader cracking the block. I've seen one, it was on a 3215 and the loader bolts were loose. I've never seen it happen on any other model, but with lack of care and very hard use, it could happen to any tractor.

The 2615HST is a tried and true model, having been built for years and years. It's very reliable. With 300 hours on it, it still has 90% plus of it's life expectancy ahead of it. A well cared for compact tractor should run 5000 hours with normal care and a little repair occasionally. I often tell people that 5000 hours on a tractor is like 200,000 miles on a good car. Some will go further, but you might be getting on "borrowed time" at that point.

Remember, and this applies to all brands, if a person has a problem with a tractor, they will often go to google and try to learn something. TBN is huge, and will likely come up on the first search page. Then the guy comes here and announces his problem. Now if he never had a problem, he may have not even found TBN. So you can get more complainers per capita on the internet. Even so, this is a great place to ask questions and to learn about all brands, but don't let a couple of incidents worry you. Just let them inform you!

You make a really good point about complaints show up here but no one searches net to seek a place to ask why their machine doesn't break down. So here goes a good news post; I have a Super C Farmall and it doesn't break down much. I think it's about 60 yrs old but I don't know how many hours is on it. It's old, runs on gas and I like driving it and using my one implement, a sickle bar. The engine was redone once. However, I like my Mahindra best. I guess it's because I have a radio on it.

Cheers....Coffeeman

I sure hope you get more hours out of you 2615 HST than I seem to be getting out of my 2810HST. Might add that the driveline parts are very expensive to replace. You might notice most posters who post here have low hours on their machines.

Apples and oranges. :)

We repaired a 2615 a year ago, it was so dirty & neglected you could not tell what brand of tractor it was. With over 300 hrs on it the customer had dug a trench over a mile long and 5' deep. He lived on a mountain and had major water runoff problems.
He never changed the OIL once, never greased the loader or backhoe EVER! The loader was so loose it sounded like the liberty bell coming off the trailer, when I mentioned it to him all he said was, Ohhh, that's what that noise was !

We pressure washed the tractor, did an internal engine wash, changed his oil, adjusted the clutch, all new filters, tightened the loader, yelled at him a little, and counted the warranty days left on this abusers machine.

Any how, that just goes to show you that the little Mahindras can take a real workout and keep going. When we first delivered this tractor, I had an uneasy feeling if we sold this guy the right equipment, a tractor or a bulldozer- track hoe

Well... My Yanmar F235-D has over 2000 hrs on it and still runs great.
It gets an oil change every 50 hrs, and the fuel gets treated with every tank fill up, along with a wax job.

Any machine will last for many hrs if it's serviced properly, and parked out of the weather.

Also check the loader mounting bolts every 20 hrs (just in case).
I don't care what brand it is, its just common sense. :D

I had a 1999 Cub Cadet 7305 which was a Mit. clone to the Mahindra used it right up until last winter when I sold it to one of my employies and at the time of the sale it has just over 1,400 hours on it now it has close to 1,800 hours and survived this....(see picture below)
I NEVER had a problem that was not an operator inflected issue, now I'm not saying you or any one else will never have any problems just saying with dedicated maintance things can last a long time.

I've got a 2006 2015 4WD with loader. I put on about the same number of hours per year as you do. I've got about 250 on it now. I change the oil about every 50 hours, and grease the zerks about every 30 days. If I don't get at least 2500 hours without any major problems, I'll be surprised and disappointed. My experience with small (less than 30 hp) Japanese diesel tractors leads me to believe they will go far longer than 3000 hours. Seats, tires, fan belts, seals, etc., usually give up far sooner than the engines or drive trains.

Ernie, what do you use to treat your fuel ?
