What is the 'project in Seminole county'? [Phone Spam]

And who is 'Jeffrey'?

For the last few days, I've gotten the same message, but with different wording asking me if I would 'mind looking over this Seminole county project' and then a link. Each day it has come from a different '833' or '844' toll free number.

Just curious if anybody else is getting it and has looked into what it's all about.

No but when the recording says "This is an important call, do not hang up" I can't get the receiver back on the cradle fast enough. And no one should encourage robo calls, just because they are curious.

Haven't come across that one. We get a lot of calls where the caller ID says some city and state, not always Arizona. We ignore them.

I get calls the phone says is coming from MY phone Someday I may answer that to see what I have to say.

I stopped answering the phone a long time ago for any number that isn't in my contacts list. If it's anything legitimate, they can leave a message. Most of the messages are also scams.

I also use an app, called Textfree. This gives me a sacrificial number that I can enter when ordering something online. That app is set to silent, so those phone calls don't interrupt my day.

Caller ID is a wonderful thing. I'm also one who doesn't pick up if I don't recognize the number.

Ha - I'll go you one better. I never have my phone on - except when I leave the house and remember to take it with me. I try to remember to check, almost every evening, to see if any messages have been left - that are worthy of a return call.

I have become quite proficient at deleting - calls, messages & voice mail.

The system many use to show a local phone number gets me. How is that even legal. Well may not be. I sell life and health insurance. I am amazed at how many illegal phone calls I get, office and home. If you do not have your phone numbers on the Federal Do Not Call List do so. Then when you are called and want to play their game, talk and ask enough to get their name, a good call back number and who they are selling product for or what ever info you can. Have a good sounding reason you have to call them back and some will supply that info. Then ask why they began the call with breaking the Federal Law on calling a do not call number. I had one company tell me we called you from the Philippines so the call does not originate in the US so we are legal.

It is amazing how many people will buy from these people. I bump into them often as they will call our office for help.
