All I ever saw were red and yellow. The owners say it has been like this since they had it and no signs of being repainted? No signs of red under the yellow on the upper frame. They do claim that is is a 10 ft, however, I thought all New Holland 56 rakes were 8 ft. Any ideas? Ken Sweet

Those are the original snow tires, too...

OVERALL width is 10'3", max raking width is 8' 6", wheel tread is 5' 6".

Unbolt one of the basket hangers and see if the color is red or something else.

It is 170 miles from me. I think I know a fellow that is closer that may be willing to go look? Ken Sweet

Like I said on YT, the tooth count indicates standard 56 tine bars. If they can't measure the rake, what else do you expect? The rim color doesn't match the rest, and NH never used that pale of a yellow color. Figure a repaint somewhere in the last 45-52 years.

NH yellow fades out to that pale color though. Could it have been an industrial use or for national park or a highway use?

As other have mentioned the only to tell for sure is to unbolt some parts and look underneath

I've got a #58 that is Oliver green. It looks "factory", but it's obviously a repaint. I notice no decals showing....They would have left some trace of a former existance had they not been covered with paint. Also looks more like faded JD yellow than faded NH yellow, but photos never do faded paint justice...
I'd bet a weeks pay it's a repaint.

A week's pay for you, me, or Ken?
I'm on your side of the wager.

If it were factory yellow, there would have to be red or black decals. Anyone ever recall seeing NH decals from the late 50's/ early 60's in a color other than yellow? Didn't think so.

Well....I own the company, so I don't get a pay check....:( I just sign 'em....

I have a full set of decals for my NH451 mower (circa 1972) when I finally get around to painting it. They are yellow so they'll stand out on the red frame. And they were NOT cheap!

If no sign of the red paint I'd say someone took the time to sandblast before the repaint. See it all the time on antique tractors, repaint in one colour.
