YM 3110D
Hi everyone

I just purchased my first tractor and completely a novice. I found a YM 3110D refurbished engine 4 years ago with Koyker loader. When I looked at the tractor there was only a couple of noticeable hydraulic hose leaks coming off the joystick to the loader. No other glaring problems so I bought the tractor for a great price. They hoses have been replaced. I recently changed and cleaned all filters and flushed fluids.

After using it for a couple of hours for the first time, I noticed hyd/tranny fluid coming from underneath the seat. I'm not sure what I'm looking at and why its leaking. I only used the loader and not the 3ph.

Is it the 3 point hydraulic control valve? See the attached images.

After taking the pictures, I cleaned the dirty moist area as best as possible then ran the tractor and loader for 2 dump loads and didn't notice anything coming out. I didn't use the 3ph. Please tell me something needs to be tighten and not replaced.

Welcome!

The function of that linkage is to sense that the rear implement has settled down too low, and raise it back up. And I think the hydraulic pressure inside there can reach maximum from working the front loader hard - it doesn't need an implement on the back to cause this internal pressure.

Hopefully someone will post who has re-sealed their 3-point assembly. These things are simple to work on, this isn't a big problem.

Thanks Winston1. Because the seal can be order separately, I'm assuming this is an easy fix, correct? Is it a matter of taking apart and just replacing seal? Thanks for the help.

I have not done the seal but would not hesitate too. Looks to me like you just loosen nut #7 to remove shaft assembly. I would order #15 and #17, maybe even a new circlip #19 for 70 cents. shipping is going to be the biggest expense.

I am not sure what you will have to remove to enable the shaft to slip out. You will have to determine whether the control valve will have to be removed or the arm that pushes against the shaft. "If" the control valve you might need #4 and #25. The two joint gaskets are copper where the hydraulic line bolts to the top of the control valve. Probably would be ok to use them again. I would, they can be annealed if needed.

Hope I am not giving you bad adivice. Just my :2cents:

The old seal will have to be driven out and the new seal in. Parts drawing makes it look like the seal fits in the retaining nut. Can't possibly be that difficult. Maybe someone will chime in that has been there, done that.

I believe that seal is really just sort of a wiper to keep the shaft clean. It is not really able to hold in any pressure. Typically a leak back there indicates that the valve is shot (nothing rebuild-able inside of it- just two machined surfaces that are probably scored or scratched). It is a cheap experiment to try to see if a new seal fixes it but if it is leaking out that seal I, personally, don't think it will.

Glad you stepped in and saved him from buying parts that would not help.

If it doesn't leak enough to dribble on the ground, and the fix would be expensive, I don't see any urgency in fixing it so long as everything functions properly.

Completely agree.
