What is this bracket used for on a JD450 dozer???

Side mounting bracket usually refers to a backhoe attachment that has a plate mounted to let you slide the backhoe to either side for digging against walls or foundations. There has been a lot of attachments for these crawlers such as booms, pipe laying winches hanging off the side just to name a few. On the other hand I don't have a clue what it's for but it sure looks as if it has a special purpose.

That would be my guess too. About 40 years ago I was around a 350 with a backhoe attachment, but never had the hoe dismounted in my time there.

This post is a little old, no matter I hope you found what
you need. I am looking at taking a leap of faith into a JD450
machine in the Spokane area so if any of you guys have a
like machine for sale, speak up QUICKLY.

Anywho;

I have been looking at older JD Dozers and I do believe
Mother Deere has a search function that allows a guy to find
out where a part number, specifically, is supposed to be used.

I "think" I found the link to Mother Deeres site, read the tabs
at the top, select the appropriate tab and click on it and enter
the exact P/N.
