What is this disc worth?

I plan on attending this auction this weekend. Any idea what this is worth? I think it is a JD 255 offset disc. It is the one not all rusted.

It's always hard to put a value on auction stuff, it would be lucky if you were the only one who wanted it! That disc new would be in the 10,000 dollar range and it sure does look like it has more then 75% of it's life left. So you will have to figure out how much it's worth to you!

Looks like some nice equipment at that sale. Ripper looks good as well. My guess is $3-5K.

My feeling is its hard to find good used stuff and even if you overpay a little you have the use of it right then and can move on to other things. Good luck with it - M7040 - nice tractor.

In my area, probably $500-1000. I bought a 12' not offset IH disc at auction a few years ago with newer cylinder for $250 and that was a good deal.

In my area, probably $500-1000. Older, small discs don't bring too much at auction. That one is a little HD than most, is JD and the offset will make it bring more. Price will vary with how much disc is remaining, are the bearings worn out etc. If multilple bearings are bad and discs are small it will bring scrap iron price. Not worth putting much money into those old discs. Too $ to repair them. I bought a 12' not offset IH disc at auction a few years ago with newer cylinder for $250 and that was a good deal.

Most everything went very high at the auction.

Well, that's the problem on a lot of auctions the auctioneers did their job and brought some buyers out. Probably not a bad buy, but you may be able to pick one up elsewhere - that was a serious piece.

JD 5400 2WD 2300 hours (no loader) $11,700
JD MX8 Rotary Cutter $2900
Elevator $600 (for hay bails)

That's all I remember off the top of my head for now. I'll have a few more beers and see if I can remember more....
