This is a photo of the top right side of my FEL bucket. In the foreground is a sleeve type thing welded on. Next to it is a hole and 8" or so past that towards the center of the bucket is that small bracket. The other side of the bucket has the same. What are they for? I don't have a book for my FEL yet. Perhaps it says in there.

Tony,

Look real handy for something??/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Maybe for a plug and pin work platform brace. Pin for bucket forks. I'm pretty sure they are not OEM. Not much help here, still a mystery.

Tony -

By sheer coincidence, I indirectly addressed those little do-hickies in this post recently. Take a look at that attachment, which includes an illustration from the FEL manual you have yet to receive. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I agree, Al. In addition to what they're made for, I also took advantage of the fact that I never remove my FEL and used the hole and threaded bracket to jury rig some welder-challenged bucket hooks:

Harv,

Pretty darn slick/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif In your quest for the complete tractor man i.e. welder, don't under sell the stick, it will catch the lion's share of the jobs for a lot less $$.

Harv, I had the same thing on the bucket on the B1630C loader on my B7100, and never did remember to ask the dealer what that was for. Of course, that loader was not a quick attach and was never removed and didn't come with the stands, so I never knew before what those brackets were. However, I did make use of them for my chain hooks with something a little similar to what you did, except I used one chain link also between the bolt and the hook.

I had to chuckle because the post you're referring to was part of the thread I started on Tiltmeter mounting. I see from the manual page you included what those do-hickeys are for. As you said, there are a variety of cross braces. Mine is bolted onto the FEL, but I have two support arms that are stored on the inside of one of the FEL arms on brackets that are used for that purpose (FEL removal). I'm not taking it off until I get the manual, though. Too many bad "oops"possibilities! Thanks, Harv.

Harv:
I use those brackets to hold a piece of 18 in. flat iron that sticks out in front of the bucket. They are there to catch items such as logs if they roll back when using the loader forks.
How do you keep the bucket so clean?
