I agree with Sysop. We ran an 861 for over 30 years with a FEL. That tractor loaded literally thousands of round bales of hay over the years. What transmission does it have? That will shed some light in addition to power steering, diesel, etc. Really great tractors.

Sounds like selecto speed gearbox, the granddaddy of all modern Powershift transmision
Selecto uses a small lever mounted on the steering wheel cowl, nothing on the tranny.
What he's describing is a 5 speed with vertical neutral gate, shift lever on the tranny cover.
