what is this old plow attachment?

I was clearing some brush just inside an old fence line by the road halfway down my property, and under some old heavy debris I found this.


and a closer shot of the working end.

The house was built in the 1850's so this could be pretty old,pre-tractor maybe?
It's very heavy duty about an inch thick from (horse) end and thicker at (plow) end.

Thanks for the reply Egon, just noticed it's got a stainless bolt in it. Look at the bottom picture, on the hinged side piece. looks pratically new.

It is sometimes amazing what you can find... I was picking up golf balls in the rough yesterday on the golf course next door and stumbled on an old two gang drag disc... must have walked by it 100 times and never saw it before!

So far this year I've found a dozen baseballs, and 20+ golf balls, the wife want to find an old dump with antique bottles in it.. I would really like to find a old rusted tin full of twenties and fifties 50 pounds of silver dollars from the 1800's would be ok too.

Well... the old two gang drag disc is now a new "yard art"... took a chain and brought it home yesterday.
