What is this (weed)?

Recently (last year or so) started seeing these things popping up in the lawn at our vacation home in NY. I try to mow at least once every 2 weeks when I can get up there, and it grows much faster than the grass. The ones in the photo are a little over a week old since the last cut. It's by no means a manicured lawn, but this seems to be starting to spread, and I'm wondering if it's something I should get pro-active about.

Looks like milkweed to me. Do you get a milky sap out of them if you cut them?

I agree, looks like milkweed. Save it for the Monarch butterflies.

Hmm... Could be. Looks like the same thing as here - Weed of the Month: Common Milkweed – The Horse

I haven't examined it closely after mowing to notice any sap. Will try and take note next time.

I agree, looks like Milkweed. Let it go to seed and you will have hundreds of them

Ah, yes - - its milkweed. It will have a sticky, white sap. Butterflies love the flower - - deer really enjoy the seed pod. I have milkweed in the field where my drain field is - they don't spread at all because the deer will eat them as soon as they get like what is pictured. Those in areas beyond the drain field - that go to full maturity - have their seed pods gobbled up by the deer.
