What Is This?

There's two of these on my ranch so apparently the previous owner saw a purpose for it but I can't figure it out other than there's an artillery shell suspended between two posts.



Anyone? What is this?

How high off the ground is it? Kind of reminds me of a cattle duster, part of it anyway.

About three feet. The most recent PO had a few cattle briefly.

My Dad sold and used those back in the early '70s. You put liquid insecticide in them and when the cattle walked under them they would roll and apply tick and fly repellant on their backs. We put them where they had to walk under them to get to water. I believe it is missing a canvas "curtain" hanging a foot down or so. Been a LONG time since I've seen one.
