Jinman, Iversek & KenT,
Many many thanks for your help. I am amazed that simply by my written description, you were able to give me ideas and suggestions that eventually lead to the answer.
Jinman, nope it was not a fox! I'm form Wisconsin and I know foxes, this animal was much lower to the ground and ran much faster than a fox. But thanks for the suggestion, you made me think.
Egon- heck I'm from Wisconsin I would think I would know a Badger... Wisconsin.......Badger State... Many thanks for your search but it wasn't a Badger.
It turns out that when I printed up the picture of the Fischer Cat, which is of the genus of Marten and showed it to my husband he recognized it immediatly. Turns out it is a Pine Marten. He said they are great animals to have around and they are not really rare here, because in particular they love snakes. We ahve poisinios snakes her, particualry the viper which can kill you and the vipers love stone terraces, which I have aplenty!!! He said you never want to kill the Martens because they eat all the varmits like mice and rates, we do have rats especiallya fter the big forest fire. Turns out this little buddy is most welcome.
My only worry is our cat. We put the cat out at night, and it sleeps under the house in the garage, especially to keep mice out of our walk out basement. We ahve no rodents int he ouse or garage because of the cat. I jsut hope the Pin Marten doesn't get the cat!
Many thanks to all!
