Hey All,
I am looking at a rock rake or landscape rake from Vevor. Here is the link: VEVOR Tow Behind Landscape Rake, 60" Tow Dethatcher with 21 Steel Coil Tines, Lawn Dethatcher Rake Attaches to 48" or 60" Toolbars and 3-point Suspension Systems, for Leaves, Pine Needles, and Grass | VEVOR US
I tried to select the 72 inch width but I could only select the 60 inch model. I thought about the spring teeth but couldn't add that option either. Anyway, what I am wanting to do is rake up rocks after I till a large area. I have lots of rocks. Really. From about 1/2 fist sized to about 1/2 football sized. I'm thinking the steel teeth would be best. My Yanmar tiller is 60 inches wide so I guess the 60 inch wide rake would be OK.
I need to plant a lawn of some sort over our drain field. Since it will need to be mowed just to keep the blackberries from taking over I need to remove the rocks. I have done this before with our other drain field. But that was about 25 years ago and I didn't have a tractor so I did all the rock removal by hand after I tilled the drain field with our old Merry Tiller. I'm too old for all that manual work now.
I realize the rake I am looking at will require some sort of way to attach to the 3 point. The rake is 180 bucks shipped. With the 3 point attachment the price goes to 470. I'm retired, own a machine shop complete with several welding machines, and can fabricate the 3 point mount. Maybe I can even figure out a way to use my box blade as the attachment.
My big question is should I use the steel teeth? Would spring teeth be better for removing the rock sizes I have? Also, should I try to order the 72 inch width even though my tiller is 60 inches wide?
Thanks,
Eric
