Okie Dokie now /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The engine code is useful /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif That code coorelates to a casting date of November 21, 1945. Based on that, this tractor was a very late '45, or an early '46. The "0" at the end indicates year, 0 being '45. Mine has a "J", indicating '40. They are, for your reading enjoyment:
H 1938
I 1939
J 1940
K 1941
L 1942
M 1943
N 1944
O 1945
P 1946
Q 1947
The letters continue up to 1958.
The other number is a part number or something. Mine has similar numbers on the shifter tower, and on the torque tube(8638DA)
Now, it is not a sure thing without a serial number. Engines wore out, got changed ect, so it may have a different year drivetrain.
My tranny has a cast code, on the side next to where your left shin would be. It is 124J, indicating a Dec 4, 1940 casting date.
In my case, the numbers make sense, as the serial number is for a '41, and the cast codesfor tranny and engine are late '40,, which makes sense for a '41 production tractor.
I will try to take some pictures of mine, including serial number placement. Then we can get some more numbers to coorelate better /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
