I had never seen these before moving to our current home. They are about 10' to 12' tall and the butterflies seem to love the blooms.

That looks like Iron weed.

Ohio Perennial and Biennial Weed Guide

I had thought that they may be Tall Iron Weed at one point, but ruled it out. Leaves and flowers are not the same. Don't have any intention of getting rid of them. They grow along the edge of the woods and I've always liked them, just didn't know what they were called.

Well...... I don't have anything like that around here. The blooms are similar to milk weed but the leaves are wrong. I've got lots of milk weed - nasty stuff with bitter, sticky, white, milky sap - the deer really like it.

I really like these plants. I walked to the edge of the woods and looked at them again yesterday evening.......butterflies and bees all over the blooms. The shortest of them at 6' to 7' and the tallest are 11' to 12'. I'm hoping they will continue to spread.
