I am looking for a rotary amber lightbar like the ones that people use on plow trucks to put on my tractor. I would like a mini light bar off some sort with dual rotating lights.
I am thinking something with magnets as the part of the roof is metal so I won't need to make any mounting plates.

I don't want to spend to much and not sure where to look for one.

Also looking at putting some LED lights on the side of the tractor maybe along the hood or loader frame like marker lights on big trucks but would like them to blink or flash. Where can I find some of these also? What would I need to make them flash? Could I hook them into the 4-way flashers somehow?

The reason I want to add all the lights is that I have many driveways to plow out this winter on a high traffic road and want people to see me as there is a slight hill that people have to see over, more lights the better. Also it will look cool.

Has anyone else made these modifications and if you did can you post pics and links to where you bought the parts.

Would like to purchase these things as soon as possible as the white stuff is not far off now.

Thanks much in advance.

Ebay's a great place to find light bars at a good price. I have bought and sold a couple there over the years . Get a good one like Whelan, 911 EP, Tomar, Jet Stream. You might also consider a LED light bar. More durable and draw a lot less power.

DieselPower thanks for the reccommendations. I will be looking at all of them for a while. I would really like and LED lightbar but am not up to spending that kind of money for them.
I really dont want to spend more than $100-200 for everything.
I would like a nice looking and good working dual rotating becon for the roof and at least one maybe two flashing LED's for each side of the tractor.
Hopefully there are a few or more people on here that have added such lights on there tractors and can show and explaing how it was done.

You can check AWdirect for lightbars. Mini Lightbars I use the Ecco 15" mini strobe on my p/u. It has the magnetic/suction mounts. I've had it two years and really like it. It is very bright and each stobe has the quad flash, so it is very noticeable.

I haven't wired anything up on my tractor yet, but I do have some amber oval leds that I want to make up a box for to attach to my rops, then just jump off my factory flashers.

type "amber flashing LED" into eBay and you will find lots of cheap items. I bought a set of 44 led flashers for about $15 including shipping from hongkong. I didnt think they'd be much for the price but I was very impressed when I received them.
The lights are about 3inches long, 1.5 inches high and an inch deep. They are very bright in poor light conditions.
I cant vouch for how trouble free they are as I havent had them fitted long enough to have encountered problems but for $15, they are worth a shot, especially if you are going to use them as a secondary side marker.

3 flashing patterns to choose from, Button A, B or C.

And, they look cool too. Have a look around YouTube and you'll find video clips of these, you can see the different flash patterns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tQ1...emZ350110416971QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350110

Have you considered using reflective tape on your loader arm, along top of cab? I have seen that stuff on trucks and school buses - almost as bright at a light and no wiring needed!

I have and have put some on the snowblower and equipment but the reason I want lights as there is a hill on the main bus road that people cant see anthing until you get almost oon top of the hill so the reflective tape would mean anything unless there lights hit. The side lights on the tractor will give them some kind of light that they will see a little futher away along with the rotating amber light and main tractor lights.

Thanks, haven't had enough time to sit down on ebay yet to look but did think about it. Was hoping that I could find some in a local store but probably will be more money than ebay.
They look light the size lights I am looking for to put on the side of the tractor, 2 for each side. What color do you have? I was thinking just amber but then maybe a green or blue.

Does anyone know if I can add other color lights and still be leagal. I was thinking maybe green LEDs on the sides along with some amber ones, just have to be bright enough.
I would still keep the roof mounted rotating beacon amber.

Laws regarding what color lights are legal for specific uses vary widely from state to state. Check your state DOT website for the specifics for your state. Good luck.

Don't think the law has any say about this on private property.

Whelen makes a good product.
id recomend these Grote LED strobes/Grote LED Strobe Light Yellow 77363. They are self contained, just need 12V and are pretty low profile. Dont forget the gromet and pigtail . Premade brackets are also available in different configurations. LED are alot easier on your battery and next to no maintenance. 2 of these on the front of the cab and 2 on the rear if you can fit them, and they'd see you for miles:)

IIRC in NY green is reserved for volunteer ambulance squad members, you are probbaly ok offroad, but if you are clearing the right of way (like be the driveway) and happen to go on the road, you could be given a ticket. go to NYS GTSC - Vehicle & Traffic Law - Section 375 (41) for more info

Well I ended up getting 4 of the LED lights Blagadan reccomended for the sides of my tractor. I got 2 amber and 2 green. I will put one of each on each side and have them on an alternating flash.
I am going to take my chances with the green LED as I know most of the cops and all of the judges pretty good in my neck of the woods and the rules/regs dont go into detail on exactly what colors you can have on a tractor. I just figure more lights the better.

I have seen a couple people up there tractor from one end to the other with the christmas rope lights that were multi colors flashing and dont believe anything was said to them. I know one person that has done it for years plowing his driveway on a main road.

Another thing I was thinking about was putting head and tailight flashers in like on Walker Texas Rangers truck. Will the tractors electrical system handle them and has anyone done this before on a tractor or a truck.

The side lights and flashers will only be used while plowing not in transport between driveways.

Well let me know what you guys think.

And where are everyones pictures of their lights. Am I the only one thinking about safety?

Oh yea forgot. My buddy gave me a single beacon amber light to put on the roof courtesy of the NYS Thruway for now until I get some more money to spare and get a bigger one. Should be fine for now.
